Delmar Installs New Crane; Upgrades Fourchon Yard Facilities BROUSSARD, La. – Delmar Systems, Inc., world-known for its offshore mooring expertise, has expanded its shore base capability to include the largest lifting-capacity crane at Port Fourchon, La.
The 360-ton Link Belt LS-718 ringer crane located dockside in Delmar’s Fourchon yard offers loading support for various Gulf of Mexico operations. Additionally, Delmar has completed the expansion and stabilization of 140,000 square feet of storage yard.
The heavy-lift crane provides 240 feet of boom, 360-degree radius with a maximum load of 32 tons at 240 feet distance.
“The heavy-lift extended reach crane, coupled with the expansion of Delmar’s yard, greatly enhances the ability of our base to support the requirements for deepwater Gulf of Mexico operations,” said Matt Smith, Delmar’s Vice President of Operations. “The extended boom reach, along with 500 feet dockside access, permits multiple vessel load outs without repositioning either vessels or the crane. As the mooring components have increased in size for deeper waters, Delmar recognized the need for greater lifting and storage requirements. " Smith also adds, "These capabilities provide cost-effective mobilization and demobilization operations by reducing crane time and expensive vessel standby time often associated with load out operations. Our lifting and storage capacity is available for assistance to any operation, as well as enhancing the operational capability of Port Fourchon in support of deepwater projects. Our Fourchon facility can provide access to heavy-lift and third party storage for multiple users including anchor handling, drilling and production operations.”
